Mental Health & Wellbeing
At The Pingle Academy, we are committed to fostering a culture in which positive mental health and wellbeing are promoted and embraced. We believe that ‘mental health matters’ and that children’s mental health is just as important as their physical health. The Academy adopts a whole school approach to raising awareness of the importance of positive mental health and wellbeing and the support available to students to attain this.
The Pingle Academy recognises that positive mental health is not just the absence of mental health problems. We want all students to:
- Feel confident in themselves.
- Be able to express a range of emotions appropriately.
- Be able to make and maintain positive relationships with others.
- Cope with the stresses of everyday life.
- Manage times of stress and be able to deal with change.
- Learn and achieve.
We believe that everyone in our Academy has a responsibility for promoting positive mental health and recognise that some students will require additional guidance and support. Our focus is upon ensuring that interventions are offered at the earliest possible opportunity to prevent any delay in support resulting in an escalation of need or concern.
At The Pingle Academy, we have a tiered response for supporting students with their mental health and wellbeing. This approach follows four tiers:
Tier 1 – Universal support as part of our whole school offer for all students.
Tier 2 – Focused support for those students presenting with early indicators of wellbeing challenges.
Tier 3 – Targeted support for students requiring support from external agencies regarding emerging concerns around their mental health and wellbeing.
Tier 4 – Specialist support from external agencies such as CAMHS or therapeutic intervention providers.
