Year 11 Revision and Examination Support
At The Pingle Academy, we are committed to ensuring that every Year 11 student is fully supported in the run-up to their GCSE examinations. Our structured revision offer is designed to provide clarity, consistency and targeted support so that students can approach their exams with confidence.
Ramp Up to Revision
All Year 11 students have access to our “Ramp Up to Revision” programme via the Pingle Prepares Google Classroom.
These are carefully planned, week-by-week revision tasks created by subject leaders to ensure full coverage of every GCSE specification. Tasks are deliberately chunked into manageable sections, allowing students to build knowledge and skills steadily in the months leading up to their examinations.
Students are expected to complete one task per subject, per week. Completion is recognised through our Year 11 Engagement achievement system, rewarding consistent effort and commitment.
Period 6 Targeted Intervention
Following mock examinations and in-class assessments, selected students are invited to attend Period 6 intervention sessions after school.
These sessions:
● Address specific gaps in knowledge and exam technique
● Provide smaller-group, focused support
● Are tailored to individual student need
Where a student receives an invitation, attendance is strongly encouraged as these sessions are identified as being crucial to securing the best possible outcomes.
Saturday Revision Sessions
Throughout the spring term, we offer Saturday revision sessions in key subjects. These provide additional focused time with subject specialists in a calm and purposeful environment. Sessions are designed to consolidate core content, practise examination questions and strengthen confidence.
Easter and Half-Term Revision Sessions
We will also be offering Easter and half-term revision sessions (dates to be announced). These intensive sessions are designed to provide final preparation ahead of examinations, focusing on exam technique, retrieval practice and closing any remaining knowledge gaps.

Revision is absolutely essential for success in examinations
Revision goes over knowledge and concepts that have been learnt already and ensures the brain remembers them. The more a student revises, the more they can remember for their examination and the better they can achieve. Students need to find ways of revision that work best for them: these could include making revision diagrams, producing flash cards, answering exam questions, highlighting existing notes, answering quizzes or watching video clips. Different individuals find different revision ways work better for them.
Parents and carers can help their children to revise by providing a quiet, undisturbed space for them to work. Help them write a revision timetable of what they will revise and when, making sure all topics are covered and are checked again. Make sure they have no distractions, such as phones. Keep revision sessions short (about 20 mins) with frequent breaks, but build them into daily routine. Revision should be beginning months before the exams, not just the night before.
