Dress Code

At The Pingle Sixth Form, students are expected to dress appropriately for a professional school environment.

In line with the Sixth Form’s professional environment and following consultation with the Sixth Form Student Leadership Team, the following expectations are put in place for all students to adhere to:

  • Clothing must not display language or images that promote violence, drug or alcohol use, discrimination, or any other offensive or inappropriate content.
  • Clothing must provide coverage of the chest, stomach and back.  See-through or mesh garments without appropriate layering are not permitted.
  • Tops must cover the chest and midriff.  Low-cut, cropped, or backless tops are not permitted.
  • Strapless tops are not permitted.  Tops must provide secure coverage and remain in place during normal movement.
  • Shorts, skirts and dresses must be appropriate and at least mid-thigh in length.
  • Underwear waistbands must not be visible.
  • Footwear must be secure, safe and suitable for all school activities.  Flip flops, Crocs and sliders are not permitted.
  • Students must wear their red lanyard each day.  If a lanyard is lost or forgotten, a temporary one must be collected from the Sixth Form Office.

If a student either knowingly or unintentionally, breaches the dress code, the matter will be referred to the Head of Sixth Form who will send home if necessary.
