‘Those who do not learn from History are condemned to repeat it.’ - Santayana.

Welcome to the History Faculty area where we are committed to ensuring that all students make good progress through excellent teaching which inspires and engages them to work hard, be kind and choose wisely.  This often includes examining periods of time and topics where others have not chosen wisely and investigating the consequences of those choices!

Click the attachments below to see our curriculum rationale document to find out more about our vision for the curriculum and how we implement this. Details of the curriculum which we offer can be also be found below in the attachment section.

History lessons focus on developing a strong knowledge and skills base which will give students a firm foundation for further study. Frequent formal and informal assessments allow students to know how they are progressing, and allows the teachers to plan according to the specific needs of their classes and individual students. We use knowledge organisers to rehearse and recall this foundational knowledge both in lessons and as homework tasks.
