Mrs D Wilcox

Assistant Principal

Favourite Subject

I have always loved learning languages – French (GCSE and A-Level) and German (GCSE). I also loved English Literature with my favourites being Shakespeare, Alexander Pope and Christopher Marlowe. My teachers were my main inspiration. Their passion and enthusiasm for their subjects really changed my way of thinking – I have always wanted to be a teacher and I still love it.

Hobbies

I am an avid reader, particularly of Crime Fiction. I read advance copies of books and write reviews for a publisher. I love spending time outside and travelling to new places. I especially love the seaside. I am a huge fan of yoga, which I practise every day.

About Me

I grew up in Burton, so very local. I studied French and Hispanic Studies at the University of Birmingham and spent a year living abroad in Spain. I have a GCSE in Italian and a part of my degree is Portuguese. I love to travel and I have friends all over the world.

I have been a teacher for over 20 years, including being a Languages and English teacher, a Head of Sixth Form and now an Assistant Principal. I love my job and I am so proud to work at The Pingle Academy. I am so proud of all of my students and I love to see them successful, happy and thriving.
